Happiness IQ & GPS
What is Happiness I.Q.?
Happiness I.Q.® is your capacity to choose emotional comfort and happiness—regardless of what’s happening.
It’s not determined by circumstances.
It’s shaped by your beliefs.
The way you feel is not caused by the world around you, but by what you believe about what’s happening—and your ability to choose those beliefs.
A New Way to Understand Your Experience
We often assume life works like this:
stimulus → response
Something happens, and we feel something.
But as you’ve seen, there’s something in between:
belief
When you begin to recognize and work with your beliefs, something powerful happens:
You gain the ability to influence how you feel—intentionally.
We call this process the Happiness GPS®—a way of understanding where you are emotionally, and navigating toward where you want to be.
Raising Your Happiness I.Q.
People with a lower Happiness I.Q. often believe:
“I can’t choose how I feel—it depends on what happens.”
“I need to feel upset or stressed to take care of things.”
“It’s only human to feel bad when things don’t go my way.”
“My mind just does what it does—I can’t control it.”
“I am how I am. My ability to change is limited.”
People with a higher Happiness I.Q. understand:
How they feel is shaped by their beliefs—not the situation.
They can care for themselves without becoming upset or overwhelmed.
There’s no single “right” way to respond—they can choose their response.
They are the pilot of their mind—the creator of their thoughts and beliefs.
Their capacity to change is not fixed—it’s open and ongoing.
A Simple Way to Begin
You can start raising your Happiness I.Q. with a few simple questions:
What happened? (the stimulus)
How do I feel?
Why do I feel this way?
What do I believe about this?
Why do I believe that?
From there:
Gently uncover the belief
Decide whether you want to keep it or change it
Choose a new belief, if you wish
As your beliefs shift, your feelings naturally follow.
The Possibility
You don’t have to feel how life tells you to feel.
You can learn to:
understand your emotional patterns
change the beliefs behind them
and choose how you want to feel
Your capacity for happiness is not fixed.
It’s something you can grow.
