5 Days To Live: Bears’ Health Journey
Four years ago, I was told I had only five days to live.
Today, March 2026, I am still here — thriving, vibrant, and deeply grateful.
When I was first given that diagnosis — massive, stage four, body-wide metastatic cancer — no one believed I could possibly survive. Samahria and I immediately chose a different path. We sent love to my cancer cells and created our own healing protocols. No chemotherapy. No radiation. Just what we have spent a lifetime exploring and teaching: beliefs, purpose, prayer, profound love, and individually designed approaches to eating and movement.
And yes — I still eat more varieties of mushrooms each week than most people might eat in five or ten years.
At Massachusetts General Hospital, my supervising physician described me as both a “medical mystery” and a “medical miracle.”
Everything we have done, and continue to do, is grounded in the same principles we have been teaching for nearly half a century — through The Option Institute International Learning and Training Center®, through our programs, and through my books, including Happiness Is A Choice.
Out of this experience, we created a program called 5 Days To Live, where we share the protocols and perspectives that have supported my healing — not as a prescription, but as an invitation for others to explore their own path.
We also created “5 Days To Live” the documentary that tells this story — the diagnosis, the choices we made, and the journey that followed — in the hope that it may offer insight, comfort, and inspiration to others facing their own challenges. Watch it now.
Today, Samahria and I continue to share what we have learned, supporting individuals and families who are exploring their own healing journeys — in their own way, at their own pace.
Most important to us is our gratitude.
To those of you who have prayed for me, for us — we feel that love deeply. We believe your prayers have been a meaningful and powerful part of this journey. Thank you.
And if you feel moved to continue, we welcome that — for us, for yourselves, and for all humankind.
We invite you to stay connected with us, to be informed, and, most of all, to be inspired as this unexpected and unconventional journey continues.
